Roy Dennis Caves, 92, of Madison, Mississippi passed away on July 20th, 2025. Roy was a native of Jones County. He attended Jones County Junior College before graduating from Mississippi State University with a bachelor’s degree in agriculture. He continued his education at Mississippi College, earning a master’s degree in Business Administration. Roy married his wife Ann in 1960, and they settled in the Jackson metro area with their daughter, Bronwyn, shortly thereafter.
Roy entered into the United States Navy in 1950, going on to serve in active duty from 1955 to 1959. Upon being released from active duty, he remained in the Naval Reserve, attaining the rank of Captain. After 30 years of service, Roy retired from the United States Naval Reserve in 1985 and, until the time of his death, turned his attention to helping veterans and members of the military community get the benefits they deserve.
While also serving in the Naval Reserve, Roy worked for various government agencies until he founded BAC Management Services, an association management firm in Jackson. He worked with many wonderful clients until his retirement in 2011.
Roy served faithfully as a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church throughout his time in Madison, where he spent many years as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and mission volunteer, having made multiple trips to Peru, Montana, and Pennsylvania.
Roy spent many years investing in the community at Jackson Academy, where his wife, Ann, worked and his daughter, Bronwyn, attended. In addition to being one of the founding members of the JA Booster club, Roy enjoyed spending time grilling hamburgers in the concession stand and making appearances as Santa Claus in Ann’s first grade classroom.
As a father and grandfather, Roy enjoyed sharing the things he loved with his family. He arranged many trips to various Mississippi State sporting events, taking great delight in any chance he had to “wrap it in maroon and white” with his family. His favorite time of year, however, was late July, when he got to spend a week in Philadelphia, Mississippi at the Neshoba County Fair, playing (and winning) many games of Dominoes and Rook. Over the years, Roy was able to take his family many places, with some of his most treasured memories coming from countless trips to Destin, Florida and a grand tour of New York City and Washington, D.C.
Throughout their marriage, Roy and his wife Ann traveled the world together, visiting all of the states in the US as well as numerous countries. They also enjoyed spending time together in their home state of Mississippi, relaxing on the porch at their Neshoba County Fair cabin and attending Mississippi State University sporting events, especially baseball. No matter where they went, as long as they were together, they were happy.
Roy was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Ann White Caves, as well as his parents and his brothers. He is survived by their daughter, Bronwyn Burford (Chris), their granddaughters, Elizabeth Weddle (Andrew) and Catherine Burford, his sister, Sherry Feagans, and many loving nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, July 24th, 2025, at Broadmoor Baptist Church in the chapel with visitation at 9:30 AM, followed by interment at Parkway Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Broadmoor Baptist Church (Missions) or Jackson Academy.
