Schultz was a Professor of Mathematics at Jackson State University from 1971 to 1996, before retiring to devote the rest of his life to his studies and his many friends. He will be remembered for his kindness and generosity, and he passed away fully aware that, like ripples in a pond, his life and deeply sharing spirit would positively affect those of his friends for generations to come. Dr. Riggs is survived by his aunt and uncle, Bobby June and Bradley Reid of Barlow, KY, and assorted cousins, as well as close friends Denise Williams, Linda Owens, Jack Mallette, Ken Stribling, Jean Barnett, Dr. James Barksdale and others. There will be a memorial service at Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro, KY on Saturday, Dec. 8th, followed by interment next to his parents in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in nearby Sorgho, KY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Dr. Riggs' name to Hospice Ministries of Ridgeland, MS, or the American Cancer Society.

Dr. Riggs was my Math professor at JSU. I graduated in 1987 and we kept in touch over the years and especially when I visited Jackson. He, Dr. Lou Allen Gray and I would meet for lunch.
He was smart, brilliant and had a wonderful sense of humor.
God bless and rest to his soul.
I will miss him.
