

Sherry Shannon Pitchford, 76 of Memphis, formerly of Jackson, MS was called home by her Lord on November 21, 2014. She was born 20 January 1938. She was a 1955 graduate of Sacred Heart Villa St. Louis and attended Ole Miss University. She was proceeded in death by her parents Dr. and Mrs. Walton Shannon of Jackson, MS and is survived by her brother Howard (Claudia) Shannon of Jonesboro, AR; her daughter Pamela Ann Pitchford of Jackson; sons LtCol Shannon (Judy) Pitchford of Jacksonville, NC and Gerow Pitchford of Ramona, CA. and very best friend and caretaker in her final days Cheryl Thornton. She was the loving Granny of Joshua Roman, Abby Fletcher, Emily Pitchford, Emma Pitchford and Sean-Patrick Pitchford and Great Granny of Riley Jack and Oden Fletcher. Sherry had a huge soft spot for nephews David (Annette) Shannon and "Bubba" (Nikki) Shannon along with her niece Paige (Tim) Cothern. Sherry was a devoted & dependable friend to so many, including former husband Richard Pitchford of Natchez, MS
Sherry retired from BEP as a financial bookkeeper and started to live out her passion for travel, especially throughout the gulf coast. But her heart was happiest when she visited Disneyland, she loved all things Disney. When she wasn't visiting the mouse, she enjoyed cheering on her favorite college basketball team the Memphis Tigers and reading any good book.
A visitation will be held Monday, November 24 from 6-8 at Parkway Funeral Home in Ridgeland, MS and the celebration of life in a Catholic Mass on Tuesday, November 25 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Cathedral in Downtown Jackson. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donation be made to her favorite charity, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
