A visitation will be held Monday August 27th at 11:00am followed by 2:00pm services at Madison United Methodist Church in Madison, MS.
A burial will immediately follow the service at Parkway Memorial Cemetery in Ridgeland, MS.
Mr. Black was born in Greenville, MS on November 12th, 1955, but spent the majority of his childhood in Columbus, MS, excelling in football, basketball, baseball and track. He went on to earn a football scholarship to Mississippi State University, where he was a two-time All-Southeastern Conference safety and a 1976 All-American. After a stellar college career, he was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the fourth round of the 1977 NFL Draft.
Mr. Black was a beloved husband to his wife, Nancy, and father to his three daughters, Parker, Taylor, and Ross. He loved hunting and fishing at Cowbell Farms, watching his girls play sports, and was an avid Mississippi State fan. He and Nancy founded Bulldog Construction, which they started together over twenty-five years ago working on numerous commercial construction projects throughout Mississippi.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Holt Black; three daughters, Parker Black Jackson (Trey) of Madison, MS, Margaret Taylor Black of New York, NY and Katherine Ross Black of Madison, MS; sister Barbara Black Travis (Nickey), brothers Harry Black (Melissa) and Paul Black (Ellen) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be sent to the Stan Black #36 Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 2292, Mississippi State, MS, 39762. The family also requests honoring him by wearing his beloved maroon to the service.
