Bud graduated from Mississippi State University where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. After graduating he became a civil engineer specializing in rural water systems. He owned his own business, Alford Engineering, until his health forced him to retire. Bud was a past president of Madison the City Chamber of Commerce and Madison’s city engineer for several years. He and his wife were members of Broadmoor Baptist Church.
Prior to his decline with Multiple Sclerosis, he enjoyed duck hunting, deep sea fishing, tennis, and even barefoot skiing. He was an avid fan and lifetime supporter of the MSU Bulldogs.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Zell and Floyd Alford. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jo Ann Dale Alford; son, Stewart Alford and wife Amy of Napa Valley CA; son, Chris Alford and wife Karaline of New Orleans LA; a brother and sister-in-law; and numerous cousins.
