Suzanne was born to Marion and Dorothy Johnson on September 13th, 1958, in Mobile, Alabama. The youngest of three girls, Suzanne grew up well-loved in Lucedale, Mississippi. Suzanne began her professional career at Xerox Corporation, where she quickly learned the business, earned multiple promotions, and built a reputation as a trusted professional over her 32-year career. She built many lasting friendships with colleagues and was respected by everyone she worked with. Suzanne never stopped learning and proudly earned her bachelor’s degree in business from Belhaven University at age 50. She retired from Xerox in 2013.
Those who knew her best would describe her as warm, funny, and kind, always ready with a witty reply. She was a consummate hostess who welcomed people into her home with grace and class. She made everything beautiful. Suzanne loved caring for those most dear to her - husband, family, friends, and the many dogs she cared for so well.
In 1992, she married the love of her life, David. Suzanne was a wonderful companion, confidant, and advisor throughout their 34 years together. Together, they enjoyed their trips to Sandestin, exploring antique shops, playing golf, and many other adventures traveling abroad. From the beginning of their time together, she opened her heart to David’s two sons and later their wives. She embraced the role of “Yaya” to her grandchildren and showered them with so much love. She was there for every school grandparent day, always ready to have sleepovers, and kept their favorite snacks ready. Yaya made everything fun.
Suzanne is preceded in death by her parents Marion and Dorothy. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, David Michael Weems, Sr, her sons Michael Weems (Weronika) and James Weems (Julia), grandchildren Jacob and Elizabeth, sisters Lucy Cumbest (Mike) and Evelyn Johns.
