

Valerie was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on August 14, 1937, and was raised in the uptown district of New Orleans. She attended McDonough Elementary School, and graduated from Alcee Fortier High School in 1955. She attended Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond.
She is survived by her four children, Wes Williams (Loria), Shannon Guinan (Tom), Brad Williams (Melinda), and Tracee Davis (Chris), and nine grandchildren (Andrew, Sarah, Mary, Katelyn, Braxton, Anna, Loria, Cody and Jake). She is also survived by her brother, William A. Summers, Jr. of Covington, Louisiana. Valerie was predeceased by her husband, Hubert W. Williams, Jr. and her parents, William Adolph Summers and Anna DiFatta Summers.
Valerie moved to Jackson, Mississippi in 1969. She opened the Gingerbread House Day Care Center in 1974. She loved to play bridge and was a member of the Jackson Bridge Association. She attained the level of Life Master. Valerie was an active parishioner at St. Richard Catholic Church. She also volunteered her time at St. Richard Catholic School where she served as PTA president, worked with the cheerleaders, and helped run the concession stand.
A funeral Mass will be conducted at St. Francis Catholic Church on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 11 AM. Visitation will be held at St. Francis Catholic Church on Wednesday from 5:00 until 6:45 (with a Rosary to follow) and at 10 AM on Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Valerie’s name to Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Jackson, Mississippi. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Madison County Nursing Home and St. Dominic Hospital.
