Virginia Drumwright Busby of Jackson, Mississippi passed away on Monday, August 12, 2013. She was born in Memphis, Tennessee on September 17, 1922 and was married for 59 years to the late Dr. Paul H. Busby on January 3, 1948.
Virginia was a lifelong resident of Jackson, MS and was actively involved in local charity work and promoting Jackson, MS through numerous organizations to include the Jackson Symphony League, Ballet Guild, Children’s Little Theatre, Museum of Arts, State and Local Dental Auxiliary, Jackson Stew Pot, Meals on Wheels and the Mississippi Animal Rescue League.
She attended Jackson public schools and Hinds Jr. College. After college she worked at Deposit Guarantee Bank until her marriage to Dr. Busby. She was a faithful member of Galloway Memorial United Methodist Church and lifetime honorary member of the Jackson Country Club.
She is survived by her loving daughter Tricia Busby Duncan and her husband Dan of Terry, Mississippi; her grandsons; Jason Paul Duncan of Jackson, MS and Matthew Stephen Duncan and his wife Amber of Jacksonville, FL; her nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at 3:00 PM at the Parkway Memorial Chapel, with visitation at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Parkway Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Galloway Memorial Methodist Church in Jackson, MS or the Mississippi Animal Rescue League.
