Wiley Truman Greer, 72, of Flora, MS went to be with the Lord at UMMC after complications from cancer surgery on June 12, 2018. Wiley was born on November 14, 1945, to Velma and Quin Greer. He grew up in Newton, MS and attended Newton schools.
He served in the MS Army National Guard for 11 years. He wanted to provide safety for the community and started A-1 Detective and Patrol Services in 1974. His passions were taking care of people, restoring cars, and spending time with family. Wiley never met a stranger and enjoyed making friends from all walks of life. He was a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church where he greeted people in the parking lot ministry.
Wiley is survived by Beth, his wife of 42 years. They loved their 3 children and 5 grandchildren. His daughters are, Tonya Greer Turbville (Kenneth) and Lauren Suzanne Ball (Ron), his son Ben Quin Greer, and grandchildren Morgan and Chandler Turbville and Jordan, Julia, and Ryne Ball. His remaining siblings are Jean Staton (Jimmy), Larry Greer (Betty), Linda Pierce (Robert), and Mattie Denewith and numerous nieces and nephews.
Wiley was preceded in death by his parents Quin and Velma Greer; his brothers Charles Greer and Don Greer; his sister Shirley Parkes; and his son Ben Greer.
The family would like to thank all of the friends and family that have visited, called, and sent cards, as well as the many UMMC hospital staff who cared for Wiley during his illness. We are thankful for the hope that we have in God and that Ben will be celebrating this Father's Day with his dad in Heaven.
Services will be held at Parkway Funeral Home on Friday, June 15th, with visitation from 12 until 2 with the funeral service at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Broadmoor Baptist Church.
