William Arrie (Bill) Conlee died April 8, 2021 leaving his wife of 47 years, Joyce Freeman Conlee; daughters, Shelly N. Conlee, Kyla B. Conlee, Adrienne L. Conlee, and Selby P. Conlee; son, William Nathaniel Conlee; favorite daughter-in-law, Melissa J. Conlee; grandsons, Nate Conlee, Dash Conlee, and Ezra Conlee; and granddaughter, Mia Pope.
Bill was born to Arrie H. Conlee and Geneva Pace Conlee on August 27, 1952 in Laurel, MS. He lived in Laurel until the family moved to Jackson, MS his senior year of high school. He graduated from the University of Southern MS with a degree in Criminal Justice. He then served 18 1/2 years on the Jackson Police Department, retiring after being injured on the job.
Bill loved people and sought every opportunity to help and protect those in need or at risk. He served as President of the Jackson Police Officers Fellowship, President of MS Right to Life, and was an instructor with the MS Alcohol and Safety Education Program. His greatest love was sharing Jesus as a Sunday School teacher, deacon, and volunteer chaplain.
Bill loved the outdoors, hunting and especially fishing. He was an avid sports fan, especially the Atlanta Braves. He considered himself a "country boy" and loved caring for his land and animals, especially his chickens.
Bill loved spending time with his family and friends, carrying on with silly songs and stories with a sly smile, and easily sharing his faith and knowledge of scripture. He stood fast on the promises of his Lord and Savior. He looked forward to eternal life with his Father in Heaven, face to face with Jesus.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to MS Right to Life, Crisis Pregnancy Center, or The American Heart Association.
