Our sweet Sonny passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 and leaves behind a grieving but peaceful family. Sonny had meningitis as a baby and wasn't expected to live past 20. Well, 53 years later, we will lay his body to rest. His will to live and enjoy his family outweighed the strength of any disease that would try to take his life too early.
His 53 years were filled with love, laughter, Days of Our Lives, and music. He loved all music but especially Elvis Presley, Alvin and the Chipmunks, and John Denver. And you wouldn't dare try to change the television channel when his "story" was on.
He was such a blessing to everyone he met and was cared for and loved by many.
Sonny leaves behind his father, William Sidney "Bud" Millican, his mom, Carolyn McKay Millican, two sisters, Cindy Smith, and Jan Millican. He also leaves behind a brother in law, Richard Smith, niece, Ryan Elizabeth Smith, and two nephews, Brayden Smith and Coltan Smith.
Sonny would want us to also mention the many extended family members who helped provide care for him throughout his 53 years Jason and Jennifer Buckley, Cheryl Dunn, Ira and India Jones.
We love you and will miss you so much, Sonny. But, we know that you are free from the body that limited you and you are made whole again at Jesus' side. Plus, we feel certain that you are sitting in Hattie Grant's lap getting a personal concert from Elvis and John right now. You are now made whole. Run, play, sing and dance in Heaven. We'll see you again!
Arrangements for Sonny are as follows: Visitation at Wright and Ferguson off Highland Colony from 5pm till 7pm, Thursday, June 13th. Funeral service at St Mark's United Methodist Church off Grants Ferry Road at 11am, Friday, June 14th with visitation starting at 10am.
