He was born to Vivian and William Coursey Nichols in El Paso, TX on November 20, 1957 and was a graduate from Balboa High School in the Panama Canal Zone. He was the owner of Stan Nichols, Inc., a cabinet door and custom millwork company in Brandon, MS. He was also President of USA Boxing Southern Association for a number of years, a sport of which he was passionate about and was able to help many young men and women pursue their dream. Stan was of Christian faith and attended Rock Hill Baptist Church in recent years. His favorite pastimes were gardening, watching westerns, and spending time with his granddaughter, Layla.
Stan is survived by his son, Darryl Lynn Nichols, granddaughter, Layla Cherie Nichols, long-time girlfriend Susan Burton, brothers Scott Nichols (Kelly), Ron Nichols, nieces, Alyse Nichols (Jesse Yates), Erica Miller (Seth), Adalen Miller, and Clarissa Bell, nephews, Brian Nichols (Taylor), Camden Nichols, Colton Nichols, Mason Brown, and Maverick Miller. Stan was predeceased by his father William Coursey Nichols, mother Vivian Nichols, and brother Darryl Lynn Nichols.
Funeral services will be held at Rock Hill Baptist Church on Monday, October 29, 2018 at 2:00. Visitation will be at the same location prior to service from 12:00-2:00. Graveside service will be immediately following at Liberty Cemetery in Raleigh, MS.
The family would like to say thank you so much to the many doctors, nurses, chaplains, and everyone at UMMC who so compassionately cared for Stan and comforted Susan during his struggle. Your dedication and love will always be remembered.
