

W. E. "Bill" Cannon, of Ridgeland, MS passed away October 19. Bill was born January 12, 1928 in Neshoba County where he lived until marrying Marcella King and moving to the Jackson area. They made their family home in Ridgeland for the past 64 years. Bill retired from MP&L/Entergy in 1990 after 42 years of service. He always thought that the best part of his job was the friendships of fellow workers. His crew was always considered family. He was a member of IBEW for 65 years.
Bill was proud to be a Blue Lodge 32 degree Mason. He was also a member of the Wahabi Shrine, serving on the Floor Team. He was a member of Trace Ridge Baptist Church where he worked extensively with the building projects.
After retiring, Bill and Marcella traveled the country for months at a time in their motorhome, sometimes to be joined by grandchildren. . His 8 grandchildren where his biggest source of pride and they have always been PawPaw's biggest fans.
Bill was preceded in death by parents, Cliff and Eliza Cannon, sister Merle Cannon and son Rex Cannon. He is survived by his wife of 68 years Marcella Cannon. Daughters, Jan Stringer (Jimmy) & Betty Bassett (Bobby). Grandchildren, Christie Burton (Andie), Robert Cannon, Mica Cannon (Rebecca), Jamie Stringer (Susan), Brandon Stringer (Allie), Blake Stringer (Liz), Seth Bassett (Katy) and Ross Bassett (Emily). Great grandchildren: Tyler, Bryce, Aiden, Garrett, Grayson, Graham and Campbell. Brother Otis Cannon (Phyliss) Sister, Pat Jackson, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Parkway Funeral Home Saturday, October 22 at 1:30p.m., services at 3 pm. Burial at Jessamine Cemetery.
