W. J. “Doc” Wilder, born December 1, 1928, in Jackson, Mississippi and departed this earth on November 12, 2025, in Raymond, Mississippi. Doc is the son of the late Willis John Wilder, Sr. and Margaret Harris Wilder. He is preceded in death by both parents and his wife of 67 years, Barbara Butler Wilder. His memory lives on in his three children, Londa Wilder of Raymond, MS; Johna Wilder Van Every of Madison, MS (Steve); and Connie Key Rainey of Clinton, MS (Bart); grandchildren include Amanda Jones, Ryan Mottern, Ashley Ainsworth, Kristy Trejo (Sergio), Kelly Spencer (Luke); great-grandchildren include Ayla, Christian, Kameryn (Glyn) and Karina.
Doc was a founder and co-owner of Mississippi Valley Electric where he worked for 26 years. Through his integrity, he earned the respect and admiration of both colleagues and peers. His gentle spirit touched the lives of all who were privileged to know him. He was the epitome of a true southern gentleman. His memory will be cherished and his presence deeply missed.
A visitation will be held at Parkway Funeral Home, located at 1161 Highland Colony Pkwy, Ridgeland, MS, 39157, on November 19, 2025, from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm.
