Essie Meyers Quinn

Essie Meyers Martin Quinn, 88, formerly of Martinsville, died Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at Riverside Health & Rehab Center in Danville. She was born on November 30, 1925 in Lynchburg, the daughter of Hanis Martin and Ella Staton Martin. Essie was retired from Tultex.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Bernard H. Hackney and her second husband, Elmer Thomas Quinn and her sons, Bernard Meyers Hackney, Melvin Hansford Hackney and Jessie Hammond Hackney.

She is survived by two daughters, Jeanie Carolyn Moore of Martinsville and Joyce Anne Stewart of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl, her son and daughter-in-law, John and Sharon Hackney of Danville, her brother, Ed Martin of Madison Heights, VA, twelve grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday, October 10, 2014, one hour prior to the service at the chapel.

The funeral service will be held, Friday, October 10, 2014, at 2:00PM at Community Funeral Service Chapel.

Interment will follow at Roselawn Burial Park.
