James Connie Thacker

James Connie Thacker, 76, of Ridgeway, VA went home to be with his Lord on March 30, 2015, at his residence. He was born in Henry County on October 19, 1938, to the late James Fountain Thacker and Ava Wilson Thacker. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam, as part of the Military Police. James worked for over eighteen years at the Newport News Shipbuilding and later retired after more than twenty eight years with American of Martinsville where he worked in purchasing. James enjoyed woodworking and spent many enjoyable hours in his shop. He was a member of Stone Memorial Christian Church.

Surviving are his wife, of fifty two years, Brenda Oakes Thacker of the home, one daughter, Lisa Gayle Oakes and one son, James Alan Thacker both of Ridgeway and three grandchildren, James Daniel Gillette, James Christopher Thacker and Brittany Leigh Thacker.

The family will receive friends 6-8 P.M. Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Stone Memorial Christian Church

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 2, 2015, at Stone Memorial Christian Church with Pastor Tim Wood Officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery in Ridgeway with Full Military Honors provided by the Martinsville-Henry County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers memorials are requested to be made to Stone Memorial Christian Church 3030 Virginia Ave, Collinsville, Virginia 24078
