Amada Arroyos Quijano, 89, of Corona California went to be with the Lord on August 23, 2020 at home in Moreno Valley, California. She was surrounded by her loved ones, and transitioned peacefully as she slept.
She was born on September 13, 1930 to Pedro and Refujia Arroyos in the city of Delhi, TX. The family was large, with 9 children – she had 2 sisters and 6 brothers.
There, in Texas, she met her soon to be husband and soul-mate, Juan Quijano, whom she married in 1945. In 1957 the young Quijano family moved to Southern California, where she lived the majority of her years in the Corona and Riverside areas.
The couple had 5 children. Two sons: Joe Quijano, Jesse Quijano, and 3 daughters: Evanjelina Martin, Mary Recendez, Lupe Reynoso. Amada was widowed in 1976 when Juan went to be with Lord ahead of her. Her son Joe also preceded her into heaven in 2006. Through the years her family thrived and expanded with the current count being 27 grandchildren, 88 great-grandchildren and 54 great-great-grandchildren. Too many to be named here, but she knew and loved them all.
Amada was known for extending her heart and home to friends and especially family in need. She was a prayer warrior! Her hobbies included gardening, cooking, crocheting, and quilting blankets for her family.
She saw herself as just a regular Mom, Grandma, and friend; always humble, always with words of encouragement, a smile, or a meal! But we knew her as much more: the rock of the family, the matriarch. The person that we looked to for everything from spiritual advice, to relationship advice, a cooking “how to”, a song, a dance, a good laugh, and so much more. She cannot be replaced, but she can and will be dearly missed. She lives forever in our hearts.
