Angelina Blanco Colon passed away peacefully at her home on October 6, 2026.
She was born in El Salvador, one of nine daughters of Cristina and Faustino Blanco. Growing up in a house full of sisters shaped who she became: loyal, quick with a laugh, and ready to stand up for the people she loved. The stories she told about those years were always about looking out for one another, and she carried that devotion with her for the rest of her life. She was the keeper of the pact, and she never let the Blanco family forget what it meant.
Angelina worked for many years at Chase Bank, where she built friendships with her colleagues and with the customers she served. People came to know her as someone who showed up, worked hard, and cared. She was also the first in her family to go to college and graduate, an accomplishment she wore with pride. Because of her, many in her immediate and extended family followed.
As a mother, she was caring, strict, and fair. She passed her wisdom to her daughter, Christina, who with an equally fierce spirit her and her husband raised a beautiful family grounded in hard work, perseverance, and grit. Angelina loved Christina and her son-in-law, Clint, without reservation, and she deeply loved her grandsons, Connor and Cian.
She was their biggest fan, and they always knew it. She never missed a chance to watch them play or to see them recognized for what they had earned. When they were invited to play for the Salvadoran national team, she was overjoyed. Seeing them represent the land where she was born was a source of deep pride, but what mattered most to her was watching her grandchildren compete and succeed.
Angelina was competitive to her core. She was a devoted Dodgers fan who never passed up a chance to cheer them on, with her beloved Clay right beside her. She planned her days around soccer matches and rooted hard for her USMNT. If a game was on, she was watching.
She also loved to travel. A new place, a new view, and a new story to bring home made her happy, and she took every chance she could to go see more of the world. Italy held a special place among her favorites, and she often spoke of wanting to return.
To her nieces and nephews, she was the aunt who made everything more fun. She joined the joke, piled on to the shenanigans, and laughed harder than anyone. She was also the one who offered guidance when it was needed, and she was strict, but always with love. She became a second mother to most of us, and we are all better for it.
To her friends, she was an honest broker. She told you what you needed to hear, not what you wanted to hear. Her honesty could be raw, but anyone who received it knew it came from love and care.
Angelina is survived by seven of her sisters, her daughter Christina Phipps and her husband Clint Phipps, her grandsons Connor and Cian Phipps, and many nieces and nephews.
Her laugh, her swagger, her fun spirit, her love of adventure, and her generous heart will be missed by her family, friends, and colleagues more than words can say. Her absence leaves a void our hearts that cannot be filled; however, all the memories created with her are deeply written into the very hearts she touched.
