Annabelle lived in Riverside for over 70 years, since moving while in grade school from Carson, North Dakota with her parents, Joseph A. Gross & Anne Gross, and 5siblings. The move-off of farmlands enabled her father to steady machinery work at Johnson’s Caterpillars. Upon arrival Annabelle started school at St. Catherine’s Church, while her father helped physically build the church as it exists now; the very same where she would receive many sacraments, marry, see her sons baptized, also take their first communions, work, bury her parents & husband and now celebrate her end of her life. As an
aside, her parents were distraught that at the time of construction, they were unable to financially sponsor one of the church’s beautiful stained-glass windows forever engraved with the family name. Shortly after graduating in 1964 with the last class of Poly High School at the old campus, now R.C.C., she married Albert A. Caballero. Primarily a traditional housewife, Annabelle also served the Holy Ghost Fathers at St. Catherine’s Church as a cook and domestic care provider for over 10 years. She also operated her own
non-profit foods service for the church at weekly bingo & festival fundraisers, earned an A.A. in foods at Riverside City College along the way, and later – to slow the pace, worked clerical for the County of San Bernardino. Widowed after 55 years of marriage, she now 4 years later is survived by 2 grandchildren and her 2 sons Albert G. and Allen G. Caballero. A final thought, Halloween is one of the most special days of the year, as it was Mom’s birthday… many fond memories will always be cherished. The rosary will be held at 10:30 a.m., followed by Mass at 11 a.m., at St. Catherine’s Church Riverside on Friday, October 27, 2023. Burial services and a reception will immediately follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park Riverside at 12:30 p.m.
