Anthony Shizuo Inaba

TONY INABA March 18, 1942 - September 11, 2021 Tony Shizuo Inaba passed away peacefully at the age of 79. He was the youngest of seven children. Due to Executive Order 9066 signed by President Roosevelt during World War II, at two months of age his famliy was relocated to Manzanar Japanese internment camp and later to Crystal City, Texas. He returned to Riverside and attended Glen Avon Elementary, Jurupa Junior High and Poly High School, class of 1960.

Beginning in his early 20's Tony was a drag racer and master mechanic. In 1969 he opened Inaba Auto Parts on Mission Boulevard and remained in the same location for 35 years until his retirement in 2004. He also owned and operated a snowboard shop at Big Bear Lake for a number of years. Retirement allowed him more time to pursue his greatest passions: ocean fishing and gardening. Lucky were those who got to enjoy his fish and vegetables. Many may recall him through his long and storied associations with Riverside Chapter JACL, City of Riverside Parks and Recreation Commission, Emerson Elementary community garden, UCR "R" garden, CarQuest Auto Parts, Seaforth Landing.

Tony is survived by his wife of 55 years Beverly, daughters Amy Inaba Freyder and Leah Inaba, son Grant Inaba, four grandchildren Halyard, Kaiyo, Avalon, and Satoshi, three sisters Haru Kuromiya, Sets Hata, and Lola Czahara, one brother Aki Inaba, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Sunday, October 3, from 3 to 6, at Acheson and Graham Mortuary. Services will be held at the same location on Monday, October 4, at 10 am, followed by interment at Olivewood Cemetery. Acheson and Graham Garden of Prayer Mortuary 7944 Magnolia Ave. Riverside, CA 92504
