Barbara Ann Luhn

August 1, 1928August 29, 2018

Barbara Ann Luhn entered into life on August 1, 1928 in Covington, Kentucky to Henry and Katherine Mondiek. Regretfully, she entered into rest after her 90th birthday on August 29. 2018. She was a member of Riverside County for 50 years.

Barbara devoted the majority of her life to raising her six children while her husband, Harold, pursued a career in the Air Force. Although she excelled as a Mother, she had many other pursuits. She was famously known for her creative talents. She crafted stunning Christmas wreaths and centerpieces using pine cones and other natural materials collected during family outings to Big Bear. Initially she designed wreaths for family and friends, but her notoriety quickly spread and soon she was selling them at craft stores and swap meets. She also was in demand to create wedding centerpieces and decorations. Later she expanded her talents to stained glass, creating many beautiful pieces, one of which remains to this day in her kitchen door.

She was known to play cards with the Bunco Babes, earning the moniker “Bad Babs”. Her close friends provided much comfort and companionship in the years after Harold passed. As she slowed down and matured, her daughter Sandy moved in to care for her. The two of them enjoyed passing the time shopping for bargains at their favorite stores all over the Inland Empire.

Barbara is preceded in death by her husband Harold Luhn and her son Stephen Luhn. She is survived by her daughters Sandy Denne, and Stephanie McDonald, her sons James Luhn, Jeff Luhn and Joe Luhn, grandchildren Matthew Denne, Kristen Denne-Eschliman, Cameron Luhn, Mitchell McDonald and great-grandchildren Caden Eschliman and Kasen Eschliman.

Barbara will be dearly missed, by all those whose life she touched.

A private family service will take place at Acheson and Graham Garden of Prayer Mortuary, with a gathering to be held in Barbara’s honor for family and friends on Saturday, September 8th at 4:00pm. Please contact the family for further information.

My thought & prayers are with the Luhn family at this difficult time. I was saddened to hear of Mrs. Luhn's passing and although it has been many years , I still remember this sweet lady.
