Compared to many of you,  I knew Ben briefly, but what an impact he made on me, as well as many of those who knew him.
We went to Norco High at the same time.  In Ben's Senior year, he went out for the Cross Country team.  Sports, for many of us, was significant in high school. We had Ben Gonzalez as our Coach. At this point in his career, he was very requiring of those he coached. Long miles and tough workouts were the norm, and Ben Gr. was there for all of that. We were a good team. We could have been better, but who can't be better? 
Ben Gr. was a great member to that team. The next year, after he graduated, he came back to help Coach Gonzalez with the team. A very famous photograph of that '74 Season was Jim Farley winning the top spot in League that year. In that picture is Ben Granado. If he liked a person, a team or anything, he supported them. 
The remainder of my Senior year, I counted Ben as a great friend. He joked, we laughed and shared the fun things we had and did in life.  When you're young, ideally, you're a very happy person. 
It seems to me Ben carried on with that happiness the rest of his life. When I would see him at high school reunions,  he would still have that smile on his face that interest in you and whatever you were doing. 
I wish I would have hung out with him more because, when you were with him, it was a party! 
My deepest and most sincere love and prayers go out to Ben's family. Having a person like this to benefit from has left all of you better. In the brief time I knew him, I was tremendously blessed. 


Awww Benny when you told me about your illness, made me very sad. I remember the couple of times we hung out, you made me laugh so much, I thought I'd wet my pants. You will always have a special place in my heart Benny. RIP my dear dear friend. I lost a really funny friend, Heaven gained my funny friend, keep them laughing in Heaven Benny. 

Uncle (tio) Benny,

It’s such a shame to lose you at this time, unfortunately no death is timely. Like they say, God’s time is the best but as family understandably feel it’s quite too soon. But then such is life and we have to accept that God had decided to bring you home.

Firstly, ‘Prof’ as he was known by people so close to him, was a very intelligent and highly opinionated person. One specific thing I admired a lot about him was the amount of love he had for his family.
 Benny was a man of repute and had a dignifying aura about him. He was highly influential to his nieces and nephews. On a personal level, he was always willing to help and offer advice where necessary.

 I remember the last ‘heart-on-heart’ conversations I had with him. 
Truthfully, my initial reaction was still one of disbelief and something inside me was still hoping, and praying that a miracle could transpire. I'm at the acceptance stage and as we mourn this great man’s death, my heart goes all out especially to the Granado family. 
As a family we must remember is this, he is in a better place, and although we have lost an inspirational member of us, God works in mysterious ways. We should also use this moment to remember Benny, and keep him in our prayers.  Togetherness is absolutely needed, and through that we should revere the priceless moments we all enjoyed with  Benny.

At the end of the day, we all have a final destination and uncle (tio) Benny happened to get to his destination rather too soon. 

Rest In Peace Benny, you will be sorely missed.

I love you Tio Benny! Tio you are by far one of the most funniest & knowledgeable uncles I've ever had the honor of being a nephew to. Thank you for everything you taught me & you will forever be in my thoughts and heart. 

Dear Frances, Tavy, and family.  Heartfelt love ❤️ and sorrow at the loss of your beloved brother.  Our love and prayers are with you at this difficult time.  God bless you each and everyone.  Rachel and Gary
