October 22, 1961 – July 16, 2022
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the sudden passing of Carl Caspary on July 16, 2022, while surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 60. Carl will be forever loved and remembered by his wife, Suzanne; his sons, Ricky and Ryan; his parents, Raymond and Rosemarie Berthoud; his brothers, James and Kevin; his sisters: Leah, Tammy, and Pam; his daughter-in-law, April; his sister-in-law, Teresa, who he thought of like a sister; and many other very special, close family members and friends.
Carl was born in Phoenix, Arizona and was one of seven children. He was a long-time resident of Garden Grove, CA and attended Bolsa Grande High School where he met the love of his life, Suzanne. They married in 1989 and were blessed with twin boys, Ricky and Ryan, in 1990. They then moved to Norco, CA, in 2000 where they raised their two boys and after working for many years as a fire sprinkler fitter to support his family, he eventually retired.
Carl had a passion for the outdoors. He especially loved surfing, fishing, camping, and baseball, and looked forward to his annual trip to Montana to see his parents and son, Ricky. He was an excellent chef, frequently barbecuing, smoking and cooking unique flavorful meals for his family.
His favorite thing, though, was spending time with his sons and teaching them how to do all the things he loved to do. Carl had a very special bond with his sons. Even when they moved away from home, he spoke with them daily and exchanged photos and text messages with them throughout the day. He also made it a priority to visit them as often as he could. Both Ricky and Ryan had recently moved closer to home, and Carl was always ready to hangout with them watching baseball games and TV shows, tackle new projects with them, and offer his help and guidance with anything they needed.
Carl had an extraordinary sense of humor and quick wit which kept us all laughing. He had a kind heart and was an avid animal lover. He enjoyed feeding the birds and spoiling his dog Billy and his cat Kiki.
He had recently become a grandfather for the first time, and he was so very proud of his grandson, Jack. Carl loved babysitting and playing with Jack, and Jack loved him, running to him as soon as his grandpa walked in the house.
Carl’s best friend was his brother James. Just a year apart in age, they were incredibly close, loved each other very much, and shared everything about their daily lives, often talking about cooking, fishing, and just about anything else.
Carl was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, godfather and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. A private memorial will take place at a later date at the request of the family.
