Growing up, he was a shepherd. He loved taking care of his sheep. When he was 17 years old, he had the opportunity to move to Brazil. He went to live with his uncle and his uncle’s family.
When he was 21, he met the love of his life, Fernanda. It was love at first sight for the two of them. They got married on July 6, 1963. They opened up a little market and made their living from it.
In 1964, they were blessed with their first child, Marcia. In 1969, they were once again blessed with their second child, Carlos Fernando. Carlos and Fernanda were loving parents who taught their children to respect, love, be there for each other and others.
Carlos came, with his family, to America in 1978. Here, he had the opportunity of giving his family a better life. He loved this land.
They were blessed with their first grandchild, Tatiana, in 1995. They were later blessed with their second grandchild, Joseph, in 2000.
Carlos was also a man of God. He loved talking about God to everyone. Anywhere he went, he shared God’s love and word.
Carlos had always been a giver. He loved to give, rather than to receive. He loved his fruit and vegetable garden. If you ever visited him, he would not let you leave empty handed. Kale, peaches, figs, fava beans, oranges, anything he had at the time, he would give.
As many of you know, Carlos and Fernanda knew each other for 56 years, and were married for 54 years. After Fernanda’s passing in 2018, Carlos had a hard time. He tried his best to be there for his children and grandchildren but he just missed his wife too much.
Both Carlos and Fernanda will be missed forever. What comforts us is knowing that they are both resting together, waiting for our Savior, Jesus Chirst, to return.
