Charlie was born in Louisiana on December 30, 1947 of parents Paul and Jessie Gray. Later they lived in Alaska, Texas and in California where the family of 2 Boys and 3 Girls settled near March Air Force Base, where his father and Charlie were once both stationed as part of their service in the United States Air Force. Charlie graduated from Moreno Valley High School where he lettered in Track and Field and Football and was always featured in the local news for his speed and agility. He entered the USAF out of high school and spent 24 years as a Transportation Logistics Specialist moving troops and equipment around the world just prior to his retirement while serving in England. It was only fitting that in his second career he became a truck driver for C.R. England and retired again in 2017. Joined by his wife Patricia Gray, he spent his final years traveling the world and living life to its fullest with friends and family always at the center of his life. He had a passion for Cooking, Outdoor Jazz Concerts and Dancing. Charlie will be remembered as a kind, generous, and easy-going person who loved all people especially his Mother, Children, Grandchildren and many Nieces and Nephews. Charlie is survived by his Mother, Jessie Gray of Moreno Valley, Wife Patricia Gray of West Covina, his son Charles Gray Jr. and daughter Trisha McGee both of Las Vegas and his daughter Brooke Jordon Gray of England; as well as three sisters Vera “Jean” Briggs, Katherine Singh and Linda Dutton, Five (5) Grandchildren, Two (2) Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who Loved being around their Uncle Charlie. It is hard to forget someone who gave us so many wonderful memories. Charlie will be deeply missed by family, friends and all who knew him! Rest in the Father’s arms until we all see you again!

I went to Moreno Valley High School with Charlie. We were only the 2nd graduating class out of MVHS, there were 199 of us, we were pretty close knit. We were a small community in those days; it's been over 50 years and I can still remember how fast Charlie was on the track and in football. I remember all the medals he had on the OUTSIDE of his letterman jacket, but he just opened it up and showed you all the medals he had on the INSIDE of his jacket! Pretty much both sides by his Senior year! He was gregarious and kindhearted, always smiling. We all knew Charlie, we all loved Charlie. When it came time for our 50th reunion, it was vitally important we find Charlie so he could be there, We were SO GLAD he attended with Pat! We are SO SORRY it was his last, we will truly miss Charlie.

Remembering the good times with a lovely Brother in Law and Uncle CJ. So many good memories of you. Especially your visits to my mam and dads in England. Taking over my mams kitchen to make us all fantastic food like spare ribs and Southern Fried Chicken. Everybody would turn up to enjoy your food and hospitality. You really were the life and soul of the party. Sleep tight, never forgotten. Love from Sharon, Lee, and Nikki 💕💕

I met Pat and CJ at the Newport Beach Jazz festival about 4 years ago. We were sitting in line awaiting the venue to open and had the absolute best time talking and socializing, I felt that I had found my soul brother and sister. So much fun laughing and sharing. I only met CJ last year on mine and Brookes trip to the USA. But he made me feel so welcome. Such a fun, kind, and full of life man. I have some great memories to remember him by, and he made my trip to America that little bit more special. Sending my love to all of his family at this heartbreaking time xx

Where do I start , over 30 years ago, so many happy memories from meeting CJ & Pat when they had a short stop in the UK. All the time CJ would know when to call NewYears Eve and cheer me up.. The many tines I came over to the states and visited. HWAS was the beginning loads of bbq’s . Many of my friends never met him but got the chance via face timing, he always was involved in our gatherings..
I’m honoured to have called him my friend. My prays and thoughts go to all his family. X
All my love
Corrine xx
