She was born in Sheboygan, WI on September 13, 1931.
Colleen and Ronald “Ron” Lugg were married on September 24, 1949, and shared 52 wonderful years together. In October 1956, they moved from Wisconsin to Riverside, California, towing a 35-foot trailer with their 1956 Ford. Accompanied by their two young daughters, they embarked on this cross-country journey to build a new life for their family.
They purchased their family home in the summer of 1960.
Colleen took great pride in caring for her home and family. She raised three children while managing a household with dedication and grace. Whether washing clothes with a wringer washer, hanging laundry on clotheslines, ironing everything to perfection, preparing daily meals, or caring for her husband and children, she embraced her role as a homemaker with pride.
She was always available to listen to her children and welcomed their friends into her home. Family was at the center of her life. She enjoyed many trips back to Wisconsin to visit relatives, as well as visits to Tucson, Arizona, to spend time with her parents and extended family. She also treasured her travels to New York, Washington, D.C., and Hawaii, which she often described as amazing experiences.
Her grandchildren brought her immense joy. She loved spending time with them, caring for them whenever she could, and watching them grow. Another of Colleen’s passions was gardening and caring for her yard. She lovingly tended her flowers and continued mowing her lawn weekly until her mid-eighties. Bowling in leagues was a weekly event of hers for many years at Tava Lanes.
Colleen is survived by her daughter, Kathleen McIntyre (John); daughter-in-law Debbie Lugg, grandchildren Adam McIntyre (Jess), Alex McIntyre (Janice), Amy Childers, Sara Childers Francis (Adam), Jeffery Lugg (Breanna), Thomas “Tommy” Lugg (girlfriend Ariel), and Brittany Lugg; great-grandchildren Agatha and Gwyneth McIntyre, Graison and Thatcher McIntyre, Austin and Owen Francis, Aurora and Seth Lugg; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Colleen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronald Edwin Lugg; her daughter, Barbara Kay Childers; her son, David Ronald Lugg; her parents, Clarence and Laura Udell; and her sister, Beverly Bernice Glaeser.
