Deborah Jean Starbuck, 75, of Riverside, CA, died of complications from an extended battle with lung cancer. Deborah passed away with her family at her side early Monday morning, May 27, 2024.
She was born February 21, 1949 to parents Bernard Beilfuss of Michigan and Violet Heatley of South Carolina in Charlston, South Carolina. Debi was raised in South Carolina and spent a lot of her time in the Myrtle Beach area.
Debi started her family in Garden Grove, CA with the addition of 3 children. The family soon moved to the growing community of Riverside, CA after buying their brand-new home. Deborah continued to live in that home for the remainder of her years.
Debi started her professional career with Family Services Association of Moreno Valley in 1989 as an accountant. She quickly advanced in the organization, eventually appointed to the role of Chief Financial Officer for the Non-Profit. She was passionate about her role as CFO@ Family Services Association, Moreno Valley. Working for the company for 35+ years she was well known for taking work home on weekends to meet audit and project deadlines.
Debi was preceded in death by Mother Violet Elizabeth Harris (Heatley), Sister Glenda Wilson and late husband Richard John Goula.
She was survived by Children David, Christine and Kenneth and Grandchildren (Father David) Brandon, Devin, Destinee and (Father Kenneth) Scott and Summer.
Deborah’s whole world was her grandchildren. She spent many long hours thinking of them, tutoring them, playing with them and spending as much “dama” time as humanly possible. (The grandkids called her dama (pronounced daa-maa).
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Any donation helps fund free lodging during treatments, transportation, survivors’ groups and research.
