I've known Dennis for all of the 21 years that I've been at Sherman. It was always so refreshing to speak with him because his wonderful demeanor was a ray of sunshine in my day. He was truly one of the kindest friends that I've ever had at Sherman- soft-spoken and authentic. Now he is free to roam the stars!

Mr.Whitecloud pushed me to be better, he seen me slacking in my work and told me I was better and my grades were dropping. After that day I went after school everyday until I was caught up and enjoyed all the stories in his English class as well as writing my papers. Mr.Whitecloud was proud I took his advice I could tell. He was my favorite teacher and he will be missed, I send my condolences and sympathy to his loved ones and family. May you Rest In Peace Mr.Whitecloud.

When I was a student at Sherman Indian High school I had the pleasure of having Mr. Whitecloud as a teacher. I remember he would give some food out or if his wife baked he would share some to the students who didn’t go to lunch an he would also chat with me an my friends an talk about how when he was gonna retire, he was gonna move to Philippines. He would also push us and encourage us to try our best in our academic studies and how he would also tease us and tell jokes an then laugh at his own jokes (which usually were about us) his laugh was nice an he was always so positive. My condolences to his family and friends.

This is made me so sad, first off I'd like to send out my condolences to Mr. Whiteclouds Family and friends.
Second, I'd like to share my memories of Whitecloud.
I had Mr. Whiteclouds class as my Freshmen year he was the most goofy, hardheaded, strict, sometimes grumpy, strong sense of humored teacher who without a doubt and always kept it real 100%.
Mr. Whitecloud always told us he's mean to the ones he cares about and man, he cared about everyone who walked through his door and I mean that! because as strict and mean as he would try to be, it always had us coming back. Whether it was to get advice, get help with school work even if it wasnt from his class, to visit him, only for him to kick us out and act like he didnt enjoy our company, because he'd tell us to get out but would start to ask us how everythings going, how are our grades and classes going lol and acted like he didnt know out names and called us all Big Dummy or little dummy lol but pepolp who knew him knew that was his sense of humor. Another things was to get some "Monkey bread" (Banana nut bread) that his wife made. He made an impact on everyone who had the pleasure in meeting him and who had his class. for me, he was always there when I needed help with school, and always knew how to joke and keep it real solid. this is what he told me when I was in his class. "I'm hard on you because I dont want to see you in my class again next year dummy, so do the work, if you need help I'm always here but I dont want to see you in here next year" little did he know he was going to see me the rest of my days at Sherman all the way up until my senior year. I passed his class but I always went to visit him and bug him every now and then. Whitecloud was a great sarcastic man with the biggest heart and was good at being a teacher and teaching what he loved. He will be very much missed! Rest in Peace Mr. Whitecloud!

Mr Whitecloud, it seems like I am always telling someone about the disagreements you and I had nearly every day in class, the one about "do time machine's exist" after reading a story about time travel will always be my favorite, you asked me "is it fact or fiction Monique? Yes or no? Do time machines exist" and my response was "yes they are call camcorders and VCR's/DvDs" haha you rolled your eyes and said they weren't time machines and I said "yes they are they allow you to see the past" haha you just threw your hands up and said "I give up! Stop talking and finish" haha, of course who could forget when I walked into your class to retake it for the 3rd time you just looked at me and asked "so are you going to pass this time?" My response was "I don't know how much do you want me out of here?" Rest in peace Mr Whitecloud

My name is Nick Foltz I'm Northern Paiute from Fort Bidwell CA (northeast corner of california). I was a student at Sherman Indian High School and was fortunate to have whitecloud as a teacher. He had a way to make someone smile with his jokez/sarcasm and his laugh had a way to make others join. I can actually hear his laugh in this photo of him:) much respect! Rest easy Whitecloud.

Mr. Whitecloud was and remains one of my favorite instructors from SIHS. He allowed me to discover so many wonderful stories and as well was also ready for discussion and debate. I've had many fond memories of debates with him not only topics in English but in history. Always willing to push you and recommend things to discover. He was such a great teacher and individual. I send my condolences to his family, friends and we Sherman students that considered him a great part of our lives during our time at Sherman Indian.

I remember you were one of the first classes I had when I first attended Sherman Indian. From the first step into the classroom you had me laughing. It was never a dull moment having you as my teacher. You really genuinely cared about me and all your students and definitely taught me a lot not just with school work but in everyday life. I can not thank you enough for helping me and thank you for being such a great human being to me. I’m going to miss my crazy funny literacy teacher. Wish I could have a good laugh with you one last time. Till then much love ❤️. Rest in paradise Mr. White cloud.

Being a Freshman wasn’t easy but when it came to class work he never failed to hope for the best for me and got me to be more confident when it came to school work. He was the best teacher you can ask for and I’m sad that I didn’t get to see him one more time. My condolence to his family and friends! ❤️

I remember a story that he showed us in class that his father wrote in college if I remember right. It was a ghost story about him picking a girl walking in the rain and he tried to visit her a couple days later. He found out she was a ghost I was always fascinated by the story I wish I could get a copy of it

Our Condolences,
A (SIHS) staff member shared this with me today. My wife Charlotte and I worked with Dennis for many years and I miss his laugh. I literally was thinking about him yesterday. Wondering how he was doing, remembering a few of our most recent discussions (from a couple years ago). May the Lord comfort all of you going forward. He always had a special gleam in his eye when he was delivering the foil wrapped fall treats. I believe he took no small measure of pride knowing we looked forward to the delivery of his wife's culinary effort.
Though I never got the chance to say this to you in person, THANK YOU! for the Banana bread.
His friend and Coworker,
Terry Longenecker
