I’ve crossed paths with many people throughout my life but there have only been a handful of people that have not only impacted my life, but who have changed it. Richard was one of those people . I met Richard in 2001 when I started working for the City of Fontana. Richard was a very unique individual . Some people knew him as rough tough very stern man, and to some degree that was accurate: I remember one time when I first started working for him, I made a mistake and in that low raspy voice he  yelled at me and called me something I won’t repeat. I looked up at him and started laughing and I apologized for the mistake. Immediately after that he began to teach me and we became friends. He didn’t just teach me about work but he taught me things about life. I appreciated his straight forward way of speaking  and it never really bothered me because I saw another side of Richard . I knew him as a very caring and giving man . Even though he was my friend I always looked to him as a father figure . He taught me a lot and if it wasn’t for Richard I wouldnt be were I am today . He taught me the value of hard work . He taught me the value of being early , he taught me how to play golf and he showed me what a real friend was . I am very thankful that God placed Richard in my life . I last spoke to him in Late September . He texted me to check on me and my family as we travel the country and to rub in my face the fact that the Rams had lost ! Lol. I will always cherish the times I spent with Richard . Even as I write this I can hear his voice yelling at me as I used to drive him around ” quit having tunnel Vision! Scan!!!scan!!!!!. To Delphina, Maddy and the rest of the family my heart and prayers are with you guys. I loved him dearly . Rest In Peace my friend .
