

Vera "Elaine" Perdue was born in Lynchburg, Virginia, on July 15, 1932, and passed away on December 22, 2021, in Jurupa Valley, California. Her parents were Lewis G. Perdue and Mabel R. Redmond of Campbell County, Virginia.
Elaine married Herman L. Coffey Sr in Chesterfield, South Carolina, on April 07, 1956, and resided in Lynchburg, Virginia, located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Elaine worked at a Craddock-Terry shoe factory with her family before marrying Herman. In 1959 Elaine and Herman moved to San Diego to pursue their dreams. They purchased their first home in Poway, California, and started their family.
In 1966, Elaine and Herman moved to Riverside, California, and raised five boys; Herman "Lee" Jr., Kenneth Wayne, James Edward, Thomas Carroll, and Charles Edward. Elaine and Herman resided in Riverside, California, for 27 years before moving to Topeka, Kansas, in 1995. In those 27 years, Elaine took pride in supporting her children at sporting events and other school activities. She was always there cheering and supporting her children. Elaine volunteered to work the snack bars or provide food to support their teams. When her children worked for the Press-Enterprise delivering newspaper in the community, she was there to help in the deliveries when there was inclement weather or sickness in the family.
In 1998, Elaine and Herman moved to Lone Pine, California, to enjoy their retirement in the solitude of the Eastern Sierra Mountains. Elaine and Herman would visit National Parks and Historic sites and take pictures. Elaine enjoyed interacting with friends and family at local events within the small towns of Inyo County. Elaine was a Bingo player and enjoyed the activities at the Casinos. She was known for winning Bingo games and her luck on the slot machines. Roses were her favorite flower. She proudly planted and cared for roses in the yard. Elaine and Herman enjoyed working in the yard, maintaining its appearance.
On June 18, 2013, Herman passed away in Riverside, California. Elaine and Herman were married for 57 years. In December 2015, Elaine moved to Jurupa Valley, California, not far from her former home of 27 years, to be closer to her children.
Friends and family would characterize Elaine as a feisty and outspoken person well known in her communities. Elaine enjoyed all social and family events which occurred over the years. She traveled several times across the United States to visit friends, family and see the country. Elaine loved going to her grandchildren's sporting events. She enjoyed going to NASCAR races and NFL football games. Her favorite race car drivers were Dale Earnhardt Sr and Jr. Her hobbies over the year were bowling, working jig-saw puzzles, playing Bingo and slot machines, and word search books.
Her four sons survive Elaine: Tom Coffey preceded her in death, 10 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren, her surviving sister Elizabeth Robertson of Fresno, California, and a host of extended family and friends.
A funeral service for Elaine will be held Thursday, January 20, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Pierce Brothers Crestlawn Mortuary, 11500 Arlington Ave, Riverside, CA 92505. Following the funeral service will be a committal service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Pierce Brothers Crestlawn Memorial Park, 11500 Arlington Ave, Riverside, CA 92505.
