Frances Alvarado Dunbar was born in Arlington, CA on Oct. 2, 1924 to Santos Alvarado and Catarina Paiz and passed away peacefully on Jan. 5, 2024 in Hesperia, CA. She was raised in Casa Blanca, where she and her family labored in the orange picking and packing industry, specifically for Victoria Orange Packing Company.
After her mother passed away, she moved to Los Angeles, CA where she met her future husband, Thomas Dunbar. Over the years, she worked for Nabisco, in the Defense industry and an electronic firm as a line leader.
During their 50 years of marriage, they were blessed with 3 children, William Dunbar, Gerald Dunbar and Karen Woodward ( husband Jack).
Frances' family grew as grandchildren were born, Nicole Johnson (Eric) and Garrett Woodward (Rebecca) and 5 great grandchildren. She leaves behind her sister Rosemarie Roa (Paul) and many loving nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Dunbar, her sister Norma Linda Martin, and brothers, Guadalupe Alvarado, Manuel Alvarado, Pete Alvarado, twins, Robert and Ricardo Alvarado and Dennis Alvarado.
Frances is an enrolled Tribal member of the Ysleta Del Sur Pueblo in Ysleta, Texas.
