Our dad was born on March 17, 1936 in Denver, Colorado. As a youth, he travelled and lived also in California and Arizona. He had fond memories of living and working at an Indian reservation in Cariso, Az.
Moving West, he worked at one job after another. Times were tough and when he had $1.00 in his pocket, he decided to join the Air Force. Our dad was always on the move. The Air Force took him to many bases in the Far East and the U.S. It was at Clark A.B. he met Emerita Arrogante and made her his wife and became a father to her daughter, Susanna. Beverly was born soon after and the family was then transferred to Duluth, Minnesota where son, Ray was born. Every 2-3 years the family moved until they planted roots at March A.B. where Fred retired from the military after putting in his 30 years as a decorated Veteran.
Retirement from the military allowed him to do many things in the 2nd half of his life. He worked as a Probation Office at Juvenile Hall and was the Town Jailer in Glasgow, Montana. He came back to California where he worked at his daughter’s company as a Federal Security Officer for State Department projects. In his later years, he Founded and became President of two construction companies- Kadena Pacific and Cal American Construction Inc.
Fred loved dogs. Over the years, he was dog dad to Herman, Nikko, Rambo, Ace, Ivan, Jude, Sadie and Rocco. They brought him much joy. Our dad loved to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed going out to dinner or out for a cup of coffee. His sharp wit served him well. Fred enjoyed his life as a dad, grandpa, decorated veteran, world traveler, business owner and many things in between.
Before he passed, he shared that he had “No Regrets” and truly his life’s testimony reflected a full, well lived life.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.AchesonandGraham.com for the Neff family.
