Gheorghe Rotar

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Gheorghe Rotar on October 23, 2025 in Riverside, CA. His 68 years on this earth were far too brief, yet full of memories that will carry his loved ones for a lifetime.

Born in Cajvana, Romania on September 15, 1957 to Stefan and Domnica Rotar as the oldest of eight children, Gheorghe escaped communist Romania in 1987 and immigrated to Riverside, California where he would spend the remainder of his years. 

His early life was marked by hardship and resilience as he came to the States with nothing to his name, and worked hard to achieve the American dream as a small business owner of a trucking and logistics operation. His ambition was selfless, and he sacrificed so much for his seven children so that they too could live out their goals and dreams. He was a stoic Eastern European man, but had a soft spot for his kids and grandkids, always ending the conversation with “Love you us”. A man of faith, Gheorghe was a member of Tabor Romanian Church in Riverside and was loved dearly by his community.

Gheorghe is survived by his wife of 44 years, Magdalina, and his seven Children: Domnica Boros (husband Peter and children Peter (wife Annie) and Isaac), Gheorghe Rotar Jr. (wife Katherine), Ana Gromis (husband Troy and children Greysen and Elle), Ion Rotar (wife Julia and children Lincoln and Nixon), Danny Rotar (wife Paige and children Emersyn and Adaline), Christina Gottlieb (husband Josh), and Estera Rotar. Gheorghe was also a beloved brother and uncle, and he loved family gatherings.

In honor of Gheorghe, let that semi-truck in when they are trying to change lanes in front of you. Maybe ask them to honk, because Gheorghe always did. Love your families selflessly. Take a break and watch a sports game with the people that matter most in your life. Go to church, put feet to your faith, and give this life everything you have.

A viewing will be held at Acheson & Graham Garden of Prayer Mortuary, located at 7944 Magnolia Ave, Riverside, CA 92504, on November 19, 2025, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

The funeral service will take place at the same venue on November 20, 2025, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.

The committal will be held at Olivewood Memorial Park, 3300 Central Ave, Riverside, CA 92506, on November 20, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
