Helen Henrietta Ginger

After graduating high school in IA, she attended the University of Texas in Austin. She soon came back home to IA and taught at the country school until she married her high school sweetheart Norman Thomsen. After his passing she met and married John Ginger of Spencer, Iowa.

In 1961 Helen and John moved from Boone, IA to Riverside, CA where they continued to raise their 5 children. They lived happily together for almost 25 years until he passed away in 1976.

She was proud of her long time employment with Harris' Department Store at the Riverside Plaza and worked there until she retired shortly before this store closed.

Helen is preceded in death by her daughter Jody Ginger and son Jay Ginger. She is survived by her sons Cliff Ginger and Jeff Ginger, daughter Jill Ginger (Waterman) and daughter in-law Linda Ginger, her grandchildren; Jason Ginger, Jennifer Ginger, Justin Ginger, Jared Ginger, Jessica Ginger (Kimbrel), Denise Ginger (Savala), and Katy Waterman. With her extended family she had 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren all giving her great joy over the many years.

Helen will be cremated with her ashes buried at the Riverside Cemetery in Spencer, Iowa. She will be buried next to her husband John and close to her other family members.
