My Gramps...I miss you so much... I am so grateful to have had such an amazing grandpa. I'm sorry I haven't written...but its been difficult to put anything into words. It has now been a little over two months and I just can't believe it... I think about you often Gramps...the fun trips we all took, all the laughter and love. I will never forget you and I miss you everyday. Thank you for always believing in me, Grandpa. I love you. You were the best Gramps I could have ever hoped to have.
Love, Shelbell

Dad, its been just over two months since we watched you peacefully pass. Although I got to say my goodbye that night a part of my heart was broken. People like us in our line of work are hardened by all of the deaths we see but it does not prepare us for the loss of a father. It has taken me over two months to deal with the grieving and to be able to talk about it. It was such a great honor to have such a great father, mentor, and best friend to guide me through life. As a man and father in my life you have set the bar so high i can't imagine achieving the same greatness. You were always there for me and gave great advise. I thank you for guiding me through my life and keeping me on track. I am so proud to be your son. I Love You Dad, Vance

To Dixie, Vance & Family, With fond memories I remember working side by side with Wayne in the detective bureau of the old Riverside Station. He was so easy & enjoyable to work with; quiet but firm and approachable by all.
The afternoon ice cream breaks at Thrifty's, where Dixie was the manager, were the highlight of the day.
And, we saw first hand his love of his family during the times we camped at the beach with them.
A special person and many special memories.
Our thoughts & prayers are with you at this time.

Sgt Harden was a wonderful person who always treated everyone with respect. My best memory of him was one Friday evening in Norco when a KFC was robbed at gunpoint. Despite it being dark and having only partial information on the suspect vehicle (no plate) and a suspect description of a only a male hispanic, he pulled over a similar car miles away driven by a blond woman. She was wearing a wig and the suspect was hidden in the rear seat.. He caught them! They had been pulling robberies in 4 counties. It was great police work. Their lengthy crime spree came to an end, solely through his alertness.

I was lucky enough to have Wayne in my life for the past ten years, and have come to consider him my grandpa. The love he had for his entire family still makes me smile, and will live on in the people whom he touched.
