After graduating Riverside’s Poly High School, Ira served for three years in the United States Army with the 52nd Armored Infantry Battalion, serving in Vicenza, Italy. He was honorably discharged in 1958.
He earned a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from California State University Los Angeles. He spent thirty years with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department where he retired as a sergeant in 1992.
Ira leaves his loving wife Dixie. During their fifty-four year marriage they always loved to find ways to show each other who loved who more.
He is survived by his son Vance Hardin (Carla, spouse), daughter Denise Renzo (John, spouse), daughter Donna Peterson, daughter Debra Tubera, his brother Mike and sisters Nola, Sharon, Robin, Pat, and Dot.
Ira will be missed by his six granddaughters, seven grandsons and eleven great grandkids.
