Jeff accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in Compton, California. He received education in the Los Angeles Unified School System where he played violin in the Orchestra in high school. He was known as the “Fiddler” to his buddies. Jeff graduated from Cleveland High School in 1982 and then obtained a Bachelor’s Degree from The University of California at Los Angeles in 1988 where he majored in Political Science.
On April 28, 1990, Jeff was united in marriage to his loving wife, Portia LaVette Johnson. To this union, two children, Miles Fitzgerald Redic and Johnathan Andrew Redic were born. The family made their home in Corona, California and attended Crossroads Christian Church. Jeff was a faithful servant. He often donated food to the food bank, tithed regularly and read his Bible faithfully. He was proud of his children and encouraged them to always reach for the stars. Tinkering in the garage, trips to the salvage yard, cooking and traveling were his greatest joys. Jeff could always be found in the kitchen cooking for family and friends during the holidays. He was a perfectionist in the kitchen and wasn’t satisfied until the meal looked as good as it tasted. His specialties were Fried Turkey, Monkey Bread and Sock it to me Cake.
Jeff worked as a Warehouse Manager for over 25 years and most recently worked for Dart Container for 13 years. He was both mentor and friend to several colleagues.
Jeff was a story teller. He had a wonderful sense of humor, loved to laugh and talk and was a wonderful friend to most. He was thoughtful, well respected and was deeply loved by his wife, family and friends.
On Thursday, January 14, 2021, God call Jeff home to eternal rest. He leaves to cherish his memory, loving wife Portia Redic, sons, Miles Fitzgerald Redic and Johnathan Redic, God-daughter, Jessica Martin, sister Deidre Burton, Brother Kenneth Redic, Nephews: Aaron Burton, Kenneth Redic II, Kentral Redic and Tristan Redic; Nieces: Maya Burton, Shalanda Redic and Jamilah Redic; Grand Aunt; Pauline Brooks, Aunts: Myrtle Atkins, Veresta Edgerton, Edith Williams, Lillian Williams, Earlene Davis; Uncles: Gene Williams, Daniel Williams and Curtis Williams and a and a host of other family and very close friends.
