Jerick was a very enthusiastic and nice person, there wasn’t a time where I saw him mad or sad because every time I saw him he always looked happy. That is what made him so impactful within our group and every time we would hang out he brought positive vibes with him as well. I remember my first time meeting Jerick was during a high school video project and when I first met him it was like we instantly clicked and became very good friends because his personality was so welcoming to me. When we started hanging out more after graduation I felt as if our bond got stronger whenever we hung out with our friend group or even just small runs I did with him and other people within our group.

When I first heard about his death I thought it was a joke and that it was fake, but after getting in touch with my whole friend group that is associated with him I then found out the truth. After actually hearing about his death being confirmed, my heart dropped and my mind went blank for awhile. I am slowly recovering mentally from his death, but I at least know that he is in a better place now. I give my deepest condolences to his family and anyone else that was close to him.  Thank you for all the memories you’ve given me Jerick, I will always make sure to cherish them. I will also miss all the times you made me laugh and all the times you helped motivate me to push my limits. I am truly proud to call you family, more specifically a brother.

Jerick was someone I met through mutual friends and classes. He quickly and easily became one of my good friends and someone I could talk to. Whenever Jerick was around he was always someone that made us laugh. Whether it was his goofy laugh or his jokes at the wrong time, he would always bring that positive attitude to the group.  Hearing about his death was truly heartbreaking and I still am in disbelief that I will not be able to laugh with him ever again. 

Jerick, thank you for the memories from the past years and especially the past summer. I will miss talking/joking about Star Wars together. “Goodbye Old Friend, May the force be with you” 

Jerick was a really nice friend to have. Every time I see him he is always smiling and always postive. I met Jerick when Justin told me to run with him at the community Eastvale park when we’re about do the 6 mile run And when I first met him at the park he already treated me like one of the boys he has a really great personality. And the beach was really fun with him making the trench hole Together. I remember that time when we ran the 12 mile Run together, by the way it was my longest run I’ve ever did. After the 12 mile run you told me “Aye next time let’s run a 26 mile run like a marathon” this made Me really sad looking at the 12 mile run picture we took. But I know you’re in a better place now, we will forever miss you

I knew who Jerick was back in high school, but I have never got to know him more personally since a couple times last year when we met and mostly a few months back. He was very humble and respectful of himself, and I admired the goals he pursued to achieve and what he would do for his family. A kind, loyal friend - one who always stick up for you. He was a role model for all of us.

Through time, he will forever be cherished and remembered. As we share our grief and love for him, it is not to say farewell to him, but rather, rest easy in Heaven and see you later.

Jerick was a kind and gifted soul who I remembered to be on of my most unique friends. From the first time we met, I knew that this guy was special and he just stood out from everyone else. We became close in college and even closer as a friend group. He was one of the most positive and uplifted people I knew to where he would rarely be seen with a frown. Jerick brought out the best in people and expressed the most energy in a room. His personality and true self will not be forgotten. My deepest condolences to the family and those that were close to him. Rest in Heaven my dear friend.

I first met Jerick back in middle school in history class. I was struggling in the class, but the guy next to me was cruising through the course work. I asked him for help, starting our friendship. We've done so many things together like hiking, playing games together, and seeing new places. It was truly fun and now that he's gone, there will always be a missing part in all of our lives. I pray that Jerick is in a better place and I hope the family will stay strong in their hardship.

Jerick has been my friend for 3 years, and within those 3 years, many memories were shared with him. From the time where he was in my group for projects, to just hanging out after school. I did not expect Jerick to come into my life, especially after high school but we were brought together by friends that knew each other. With that came even more times we could spend together as friends, to the point where I considered him as a brother. Upon hearing his death I was hit with a wave of anxiety, and disbelief as something so sudden has happened to Jerick. Even after being told by many people that he died, my mind still could not believe the fact that he was gone just like that. If it was like this for me, the family must be suffering so much more, as they were the ones to discover the body, and seeing the sight of Jerick not moving, breathing, or saying anything must have been a horrifying sight to see. I will never forget all the times we spent with Jerick and how happy he was all the time. There is not 1 picture where I did not see him smile, and I can't count how many times Jerick has brought a smile to all of our faces with his jokes. Hearing about him going to a place where we may never see him hurts and I hope that he is in a better place now. And once the viewing comes, I don't know how I will react, but there is one remaining fact that will not change, and it is the fact that I will never forget about Jerick and all that he has done for everyone that was apart of his life. RIP Jerick.

Jerick, I miss you more than words can ever imagine. 

"I can't wait what we'll all look like when we're older," were words that I muttered after looking at our group hiking picture last summer. However, life takes unexpected turns. Hearing the news about your passing didn't even seem real to me due to how sudden it was. I thought to myself, "I see you everyday, there's no way someone could disappear just like that." I have personally never experienced a death from someone as close as you, and even now it still feels surreal. Your aspirations of joining the military and finishing college were cut short. But the impact you had on your friends and family is eternal.
 
I wish I could say this to your face, but thank you Jerick. Thank you for reaching out to me whenever you needed help with academics or advice in general. Thank you for inspiring me to stay in cross country and to be the best version of myself that I could possibly be. Your presence alone is enough to light up the room, and anyone that has ever talked to you can say the same. I know that you're in a better place now. Your family, friends, and me, will make sure to keep the dreams you had alive.

Jerick was one I met for not a long time but enough to know he was an amazing guy ever since we met freshman year and quickly became friends and hanged out ever since then and throughout high school. It's truly heart breaking to see such a good friend pass away as he was an important figure for all of us.

We shouldn't let this bring us down, it's not what Jerick would want from us. I was a close friend to him as he was for a lot of us here together, we are reminded that Jerick was a great man, had great intentions, and had some sort of positive aura about him, radiating his positivity to all of us. A sign showing that this was true is the fact that we're all here together, sharing memories about him on how important he was to us. I know for a fact my man is up there in heaven for he was an amazing person for all the good he has done.

We shall remember him, love him, and strive to be the best we can for him

I remember meeting Jerick in high school through friends and office hours, but I never expected to become friends with such a humble and hilarious human being who always brightened the atmosphere wherever he went. Once college started, I got to experience how humane Jerick really was. We always met up for food at the dining halls and around campus to catch up on what is new. When things got more challenging, whether it be class, army training, or life in general, he was persistent on plowing through adversity. He had clear goals and always had his sights set on achieving them. Even when I'm struggling, Jerick was always a system of support, giving advice while cracking some jokes to lighten the mood.  Jerick was a one-of-a-kind and can never be replaced nor replicated. He will truly be missed.

It saddens my heart to hear you pass my friend. Whether we hung out together by the pool or at car shows, there was never a moment you weren't smiling. You will be missed, -Zian Thorne

Words cannot say the sympathy we feel for you at this time..please dwell on your good memories of Carl and it will help get you thru this..JoJo and Linda and all of the family. We are praying for you all..Love to all of you.....Dixie and Johnny and our family.

In moments like this, we often hear, " It's better to light a candle than to curse the darkness." So, in our heart, we light a candle in Carl's honor. But we curse the darkness, as well as the awful shadow falling across our hearts, like a cloud darkening the principles for which our family stood.

While it may be true that there can still be bright sunshine even during a heavy downpour, the death of a loved one is never easy or acceptable. Because in the natural order of things,  it should be the children who should bury their parents and not the other way around.

Sadly, the ones who remain always suffer a  loss- the loss of a caring father, a loving mother, a good son or a friend. But our belief taught us that for our dearly departed, it is a gain - that of heaven and eternal life with God. Thus, we take comfort of the thought that Carl who has gone was not really gone forever but he merely went home ahead of us to live with the Father and they are just there waiting for us.

Hello, my name is David Kiroloss, I did not know Cadet Sapino, but regardless he's a fellow peer in ROTC and therefore he was family in our small community.  His loss is a loss to our community as well.  I might've not gotten the experience of meeting Jerick, but after hearing the stories of him from the other MS2 and MS3 cadets that knew him, it saddens me that such a great person has had to pass away this young and it saddens me that myself and the other MS1s will not get the amazing chance of meeting him and learning from his leadership and example. On behalf of myself - and the other MS1s - we are sorry for your loss and we pray that he is in a better place; up in the heavens. We wish you a safe period of mourning your loss. May Cadet Sapino's soul find happiness, tranquility, and peace upon entering through the golden gates of Heaven.  We extend our sympathies to the Sapino family.

I’ve known him since elementary school and to be honest when I met him he was different. He fit in despite being new which I loved. He was funny and weird but chill at the same time. Eventually we departed paths till we reunited in high school. My days after school finished, they were filled with memories of us walking home talking about soccer and school and life. We laughed and joked around like there would be no tomorrow but to see that some may not have a tomorrow, it was a pain. To lose a close friend, to lose a companion, to lose a brother, it is all but what life is. The one in the heaven doesn’t make a mistake. It was Jerick Van Carl Sapino’s time to meet his lord. May his soul Rest In Peace  and my condolences to his family and friends. Live long man!
