John G. Herrera Sr.

Born September 21, 1945 passed away October 17, 2013 at the age of 68 years. John was born in Hondo, TX to Manuel and Senaida Herrera. He moved to Corona Ca. shortly there after and attended Corona Schools. In the summers he traveled up North to Fairfield and Corcoran to pick fruit and cotton at an early age & developed into a hard working individual. He enjoyed playing baseball where a Scout wanted to draft him but he decided to work to help support his family. Married Helen Becerra in 1965 and raised a family of his own in Corona. In the year 2000 they moved to San Jacinto, CA. and fulfilled his dream by purchasing a brand new home. John started a business in appliance repair, went to truck driving school which led to a job with J.B. Hunt. He worked for Chino Unified School District and retired after 13 years of service. He was the type of man who enjoyed traveling with family to places like Bishop, Kings Canyon, Lake Tahoe, and Yosemite, flying to Hawaii, driving to Las Vegas and Laughlin and sailing on a cruise to Ensenada. John was a very loving and caring individual. He was a man of few words yet he showed his love through his actions. He loved his family, who will miss him very very much. He fought the good fight, finished the course and kept the faith for eight years with kidney disease and heart problems. John is survived by his wife Helen Herrera, son Johnny Herrera, daughter-in-law Angie Herrera, Grandchildren Chris, DeeAnne, and Eileen Herrera, Son Frank Herrera, Granddaughter Alyssa Herrera, Daughter Cindy Perez, son-in-law Steve Perez, Grandchildren Stephanie, Robert and Arlene Perez, Great grandson Adrian Isaiah Heredia. He is also survived by his sister Mary Ramirez, Brothers Manuel, Jesse, and Henry Herrera. Is now reunited with father and mother Manuel and Senaida Herrera, brother Andy Herrera and sisters Nickie Ramirez, Vicki Herrera, Lupe Herrera and Carmen Arias. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, October 23, 2013, 2:00 PM Pierce Brothers Crestlawn Memorial Park & Mortuary 11500 Arlington Ave. Riverside, Ca 92505
