

John Joseph Riggs was born in Jersey City, NJ on June 28th 1944 to mother Carrie Rachel De Maio and to father John Donald Riggs. John and his family relocated to Moreno Valley when John was about 2 years old. John grew up on a family owned property at 21320 Box Springs Rd where his family built structures that later became family businesses such as Canyon View Café a local restaurant and bar, as well as a feedstore and gun shop among many other things. When John was 17 he married his first wife Sharon Burke who they shared one son Paul Joseph Riggs with one another. John later married Vickie Beckham. When John was 42 he married Cheryl Williams and they had 3 children together John Paul Riggs, Natalie Suzanne Riggs, and Alyssa Paulette Riggs. John had a great amount of hobbies and interests and accomplishments throughout his life. John had a passion for fishing, especially deep sea fishing! He owned boats and went on many trips and competed in many fishing competitions. John was a master diver and swimmer and scuba diving instructor. He was a rock climber and archeologist. John was an expert riflemen and archer. He raced Yamaha motorcycles in motocross races and enjoyed off-roading. John built the house him and his first wife Sharon lived in and later became an architect. He was an architect for over 50 years hand drawing many properties both commercial and residential. John was an entrepreneur and truly a jack of all trades! John was an avid collector of stamps, coins, WWII memorabilla as well as many other types of historical items. He collected guns and Knives and swords and really had a love for Indian artifacts. He spent hours putting together pottery piece by piece until the pottery were brought back to life again. John loved to travel and enjoyed Photography. He was a Scout leader and he impacted the life of many through the scouting and explorer program. John will be greatly missed by his family and loved ones and his memories and legacy will be held dear in so many peoples hearts!
