Pepe loved watching sports and knew everything there was to know about baseball. Being the baseball fanatic that he was, his favorite team was the Florida Marlins. He watched the Marlins religiously every season and tried to never miss a game.
He loved being surrounded by animals as part of his daily routine included feeding his dogs, finches, canaries, cockatoos, parakeets, fish and chickens. In his younger years, he enjoyed his Cuban cigars, espresso coffees, beer, dancing, Cuban jokes and talking about Cuban politics.
Aside from attending mass on Sundays, Pepe spent time with his four grandchildren. He would support them by attending their school activities, karate practices, dance performances and baseball games. He was such an organized man that he knew when someone had borrowed one of his belongings. He enjoyed his vacations to Miami and Arizona along with visiting and talking on the phone with friends and family from Cuba.
He will always be remembered as a friendly gentleman who got along with everyone who surrounded him. He is survived by his wife, Oneida Tejera-Puig, two children, Jesus Armando “Jesse” Tejera and Janet Tejera-Estus, daughter in law, Maria Isabel “Machie” Tejera, son in law, Chad Estus and his three granddaughters and one grandson, Alyssa Estus, 10, Emily Estus, 8, Cecilia Tejera, 7 and Sevanni Tejera, 4.
Pepe will be missed dearly by all his friends and family, but will never be forgotten as he would say, “Se Partio El Bate.”
