Joyce Alyce Poletta entered into Heaven on July 22, 2015. She was 83 years young. Joyce was born on April 20, 1932 to Francis and Beatrice Marmor. She was the oldest of 5 children, and dearly loved her two brothers, Jim and Jerry. She was especially close with her two sisters, Jean and Judy, who preceded her in death.
Joyce worked as an Administrative Clerk for many different car dealerships and the DMV over the course of 40 years. Joyce was also a Sunday School secretary for over 30 years at Pomona First Baptist Church. She was pious and found comfort in Christ. She also enjoyed volunteering as a secretary for the Arise Academy which produced many theatrical productions. There she went by the nickname "Peaches," but her greatest joy in life was working with children.
Joyce was a resident of Beaumont for the past 15 years. She lived with her only daughter Paula Corcoran, who is an elementary teacher for the Beaumont Unified School District. Joyce often helped in the classroom, where everyone referred to her as "Gramma." She was greatly loved by the staff and children, and always had a smile and kind word for the students.
Joyce is survived by her large family, consisting of two sons, Charles Jakobetz of Cedar City, UT and Peter Poletta, and her daughter, Paula Corcoran of Beaumont, CA; four grandchildren, Amanda and Alicia Corcoran, and Theodore and Timothy Jakobetz; and her two brothers, Jerry and his wife Patricia of Colorado, and Jim and his wife Yolanda of Chino, CA. She was a loving Aunt to Jim's three children, Jennifer, Jayme and Jason; her sister Jean's children, Mike, Mark, Rhonda, and Rayme; and her sister Judy's children, Wallace, Mandy, and Susan. She was Great Aunt to Jennifer's children, Madison and Morgan, Jayme's daughter Emily, Rayme's children, Andrew and Megan, as well as Susan and her husband Jim's children, in addition to multiple family members and relations of Spokane, Washington.
Joyce touched the lives of many people from all walks of life. Everyone who knew her was fond of her. She always had a smile on her face and had a very hearty laugh. She laughed often. She was always supportive to her family members and always offered a sympathetic ear. She loved the Los Angeles Lakers, especially Kobe Bryant. She also greatly loved Christmas, not only for the celebration of Christ's birth, but for the family togetherness it brought. One of her favorite Christmas traditions were nutcrackers, and she often had her extensive nutcracker collection on display in her home year round. She loved to cook and eat, and although she was diabetic, she did not let that stop her from enjoying a piece of candy. Joyce lived every day to the fullest and never let anyone she was close with doubt how much she loved them.
