Departed: Moreno Valley, CA on April 5, 2012
He was the only child of Kenneth R. Dittman and Antoinette R. Richie, both of Toledo. They moved to Monterey Park, California in 1949 where they lived until 1959, at which time they moved to Riverside. Kenneth attended St. Catherine of Alexandria Elementary School, and graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1965. While at Notre Dame he was a member of the football and basketball teams, he also played baseball and golf.
After graduating high school Kenneth enlisted in the Air Force in 1967. He served in Vietnam and Cambodia, completing his service in 1971 and was honorably discharged. Shortly after his discharge he began working at Thrifty Mart while attending California State University, Long Beach. Attending night classes he completed his education and earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with a major in marketing in 1976. After working in the store, he was moved into the office and became a Non-Foods Buyer at Thrifty Mart. In the late 1970’s he began a career with Prudential Insurance as a salesman, and was later promoted to a Sales Manager until he left the company in 1993. Kenneth held various other jobs after leaving Prudential and retired in 2010.
Kenneth was an avid sports fan throughout his life. He would get out on the golf course as often as possible, and played billiards wherever and whenever he had the opportunity. Always having his television turned to either sports or news, it wouldn’t be uncommon for someone to find themselves in a debate over current events or political view points.
Kenneth is survived by his son; Kenneth R. Dittman III, his daughters; Deborah Christiansen, Jennifer Mitchell, and Erica Dittman; as well as eight grandchildren. He also leaves behind many people who feel themselves fortunate enough to consider him a friend.
