

RIVERSIDE - LILLIAN SLATER (1923 - 2010) Lillian Slater, a resident of Riverside, CA for over 50 years passed away at age 86 on February 11, 2010. She was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Her passion was for her family and friends and she always had a kind word for everyone. She was born on August 11, 1923 in Toledo, Ohio. She served in the United States Navy during WWII and was an auxiliary member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary 9223 in her later years. She and her husband moved from Toledo to Tucson, AZ in 1951 following the advice of physicians to improve their young daughter\'s respiratory condition. They moved shortly after to California and settled in Riverside. She enjoyed many pursuits and had fond memories of the years that she was manager of the "Tigers Den" at Riverside City College where she retired in 1984. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Harry Louis Slater of Riverside, CA, her daughter, Cassandra Smith of Temecula, CA, her son and daughter-in-law, David and Kimberly Slater of Huntington Beach, CA, her son, Dennis Slater of Palm Springs, CA, her grandchildren: Chandra, Arianne, Joey, Cameron; her great-grandchildren: Ashley, Taylor, Madison, Cole and Jacob and her caregiver and friend Michelle Vega. She will be buried at the Riverside National Cemetery (22495 Van Buren Blvd) and a brief memorial service will be held there starting promptly at 10:15 a.m. on Friday, February 26th (wait at Staging Area 2 for procession) followed by a luncheon reception celebrating her life at The Mission Inn in Riverside (3649 Mission Inn Ave) from 11:30 - 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Veterans of Foreign Wars "National Military Services" program in memory of Mrs. Lillian Slater.
