Lina Hernandez Martinez

Lina is survived by her daughter Ester Sanchez of Riverside, her son Clarence and daughter-in-law Gloria Martinez from Yuma AZ, her son, Gary Martinez from Las Vegas NV, daughter-in-law Maria Martinez, sister-in-law Dolores Hernandez, sister-in-law Mary Rosales and treasured grandchildren: Deena Aguirre, Daniel J. Martinez, Frank M. Martinez, Mia McBride, Joe Martinez, Kyle Martinez, Kelley Martinez and Samantha Martinez. Her life’s journey also blessed Lina with, 23 great grandchildren and 20 great-great grandchildren and a number of step grandchildren whom she loved as her own. Lina was “special” loved by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Lina was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 74 years Frank Martinez and her son Danny Martinez; her parents, Antonio and Dominga Hernandez; brothers, Rudy and Richard Hernandez and sisters Margaret Soria and Irene Miranda and son-in-law Steven Sanchez.

Her journey was one of service and compassion with a genuine concern for children and others in need which led her to volunteer and community work. She employed as a bilingual teachers aid and retired as a Head Start teacher after 30 years with the Alvord Unified School District.

Lina cherished time spent with her husband and they built a beautiful circle of life filled with family, faith and friends. She was a member of Queen of Angles Catholic Church and a woman of prayer. She enjoyed reading, completing the daily crossword puzzle, loved traveling with her friends, shopping at Macys and treating us all to lunch.

She was a devoted wife, caring mother, the queen of our hearts, cherished and loved and will be deeply missed.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, with committal service at12:30 PM to 1:00 PM and reception from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at Pierce Brothers Crestlawn Memorial Park and Mortuary, 11500 Arlington Ave, Riverside CA 92505.
