Querida Madre,

I am writing to you in heaven hoping that my words and sentiments reach you, but wishing of course that you were here so that I could tell you in person all that I am feeling and experiencing since your passing.

Don’t be upset or worried, but I have cried almost every day since then.  Most days it’s because something reminds me of you or I recall a fond memory. One day it was a song by Ramon Ayala (remember we used to belt out his songs) and another day it was Laura and I talking about all the novelas we used to watch with you growing up. I assure you that my tears are a good thing and bring me comfort... they are reminders of the beautiful life you gave me, the amazing memories I have with you and how blessed and proud I am to have you as my mother.

There are so many things I want to thank you for, but here are a few that have had a significant impact on my life that I wanted to share with you:

❖ Thank you for your honesty, for being blunt and calling me out when I needed to hear the truth; you taught me to have thick skin, to be an honest person and that perfect doesn’t exist;

❖ Thank you for teaching me about religion; it was one of the biggest things that connected us and taught me to have faith, hope, compassion, forgiveness and love for others;

❖ Thank you for sharing your love of music, dancing and cooking; you taught me to be passionate about the things I love, to try new things and just let loose when that one good song comes on;

❖ Thank you for making holidays and special occasions possible; you taught me that family and good friends are everything;

❖ Thank you for Jesus, Laura and Nico; they are my true best friends and they each remind me so much of you that it feels like you never truly left;

❖ Thank you for mi papa; he is our rock y un gran senor! 

Continue to visit me in my dreams. I miss you. I love you! ❤️ 🦋🙏🏼

Words cannot describe the loss I feel right now not being able to call you just to say hi and to see how your morning is going it breaks my heart 
You were my best friend I could always count on you for everything it didn’t matter what was going on in my life you were always there for me for all of us.  knowing that you are no longer here hurts my heart but I find comfort knowing that you are no longer in pain or suffering thank you for all that you ever did for us Ma you will be missed dearly

To write a favorite memory is impossible. I love my Tia Lena, I will miss her laugh. To my Cousins and Tio Jesse I love you all! Please know that you ALL are in my thoughts and prayers. We are sending you soooo much love and hugs from Minnesota, you all have a place here whenever you wanna come.

I can't just write on memory because I have so many great ones to pick from. Tio Jessie I know that she was the love of your life and I can say I am grateful to have witnessed the love you gave her. I think part of the reason my Tia was so amazing and free is because she knew she always had you in her corner.

I will keep you in my heart forever. I love you Tia.

Thoughts and prayers going out to the entire family. May God grant you the peace that you deserve during this time!

Mrs. Arrieta always made me feel at home and treated me as her own when I came over to play with her son Jesus whom I have known since I was nine years old.

Her generousity and her love for her family was palpable and made me feel loved by her.  I know she is smiling down at me from above right now and saying Nhan, you better do the right thing and not get yourself or Jesus in trouble...

And I happy to say even though Jesus and I got into a little trouble growing up, we have grown up to be responsible, loving dads who are deeply devoted to their families which I know she is very proud of.

May you rest in peace, Mrs. Arrieta.  You will be deeply missed.
