Born on February 17, 1934, in Zacatecas, Mexico, to Maria and Tomas Arteaga, Herminia lived a humble life on the family ranch, where she discovered her joy and love for horseback riding. After gaining residence in the United States as an adult with her daughter, Elia, she persevered as a single parent to ensure her daughter had the opportunity for a better life.
A dedicated and strong-willed woman, she was an unwavering pillar of support for her daughter and an inspiration to her six grandchildren — Joanna, Ivan, Ruben, Gladys, Jose, and Melissa.
She will be remembered for the depth of her love, moral strength, boldness, self-sufficient spirit, and sass. Her legacy will live on through her grandchildren and the great-grandchildren she has helped raise.
We love you so much and will miss you with all our hearts, Biski. “Que Dios te cuide,” you used to say when we would go out. Now we say, may God keep you in His perfect peace until we meet again.
Love you eternally,
Elia, Joanna, Ivan, Ruben, Gladys, Jose, & Melissa
