Marion Benton Walls

MARION BENTON WALLS Age 94, resident of Riverside, CA for 60 years, passed away March 4, 2011. Marion was born September 24, 1916 in West Frankfort, IL. He worked as a Mining Engineer in IL, AZ and CA. After 27 years with Amcord, Inc. (previously American Cement Corp.) he retired in 1974 as Director Property, Procurement, Communications and Governmental Relations. He continued to work as a consultant until age 90. He received his BS Mining Engineering with class honors at University of Illinois, Urbana in 1944. He received numerous civic recognition awards; was a 15 Gallon Blood Donor and is listed in Who's Who in California 15th & 18th Ed and Who's Who in the West Vol. 9. He was a member of the Riverside and Jurupa Chamber of Commerce; Lions Club; Riverside Baptist Church; Bethel Chapel; Harvest Christian Fellowship. Marion is survived by his wife, Dorothy Walls of Riverside; daughters, Deborah McDonald (sp. George) of Moreno Valley, Sharon Linares (sp. Mario) of Riverside, and Susan Lanier of Venice Beach; son, Barry Lanier (sp. Zarina) of Riverside; sister, Jewell Brown of Venice, Florida; granddaughters, Darcy Clark (sp. Mike) of Rancho Mirage, Tara LaQuire (sp. Jason) of Moreno Valley and Hayley McDonald of Moreno Valley and 4 great-grandchildren plus numerous through marriages. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Genevieve Walls; parents, Roscoe and Della Walls; sisters, Evelyn Mae Owen and Della Jean Walls.
