After a courageous fight for recovery from a stroke, Marjorie Leon Kirmis Strong has died from cancer. She was born in Jud, ND, on February 15th to Herman and Ella Kirmis. She married Rudolph Strong in 1958. Widowed since 1989, she leaves four daughters and four grandchildren to carry on her legacy: Margaret (Kyle), Lila and Lindsey Hranitzky of Dallas, TX; Ann (Barbara) Strong of North Branford, CT; Stephanie Strong of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Carolyn (Yves), Steven and Karen Eychenne of Marly-le-Roi, France. She was predeceased by her sister Ruth Buchholz of Durbin, ND. She is survived by two sisters, Mary Stahlecker of Lisbon, ND and Naomi Hildreth of Riverside, many cousins and, in her words, “many great friends.”
Throughout her life, Marge was well known for artistic and creative pursuits. Her passion, however, was for sewing and quilting.
After a stroke challenged her, she worked hard to recover and chose to continue life in Riverside where her network of friends helped her continue to live life to its fullest and to maintain her sense of humor.
Services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church (5545 Alessandro Blvd in Riverside) Thursday November 15. Family Visitation at 9am, Funeral Service at 10 am, Reception 11am-1pm. Burial will be private.
Marge’s daughters wish to thank her amazing friends, neighbors and extended family who encouraged her through life’s challenges and who have shown us what a rich life she had in Riverside. We would specifically like to mention our thanks and appreciation to Eric Williams, Bessie Ridley, Mary Perez, Desiree Connelly, fellow members of Immanuel Lutheran church, Pastor Schilling, friends at the Villegas Senior Center, Quilters from Immanuel and Victoria Presbyterian groups, and the Saturday morning Breakfast Club.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Building Fund at Immanuel Lutheran Church, delineated for Handicap accessibility for the main church and restrooms.
