My most heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Mary’s family. My 2 sons attended her’s & Mr. Sid’s home-school. Her home was always welcoming. I couldn’t understand how she so selflessly opened her home to educate  young children daily. But I was grateful she did. I enjoyed seeing her comforting smile & loved her listening heart. Always generous with hugs, & just so very caring.  During outdoor time for the children, we would sit outside her house & watch them play & be silly on her front lawn. The warm sunshine upon our faces, as we watched young lives grow. I could tell it brought her so much joy. Once my mom & I went to visit her at a rehab. I had just had my 3rd son, & I so desperately wanted her to meet him, so I put him in my baby carrier front pack & wore my windbreaker jacket over him. After making it to her room, she saw me & thought I was still pregnant, until I uncovered my newest babe. We all got such a good laugh about the antics & I was asked nicely to leave by staff as no children under 12yrs were allowed. Gosh, Ms. Mary my heart is sad that you’re physically not here but so full because my life was touched by your love & a little bit of your passionate spirit for the children will live in me. I love you Ms. Mary & I’ll forever remember you. 

My condolences to the family. Thencha was a big impact in my life as she was for many. She was like a grandmother to me as a baby. She would babysit me and teach me how to count and read.  It’s just crazy how I remember so much about her at such a young age. She also became my  preschool teacher. I can’t say I didnt get special treatment. One specific memory I have was we had a test to learn our phone numbers. I had to learn two, my home phone and my grandmothers phone number. She would give out candy bars if we remembered. Well let’s say I got two candy bars and I remember one of  my class mate said hey that’s not fair why does she get two.  She replied: she had to learn two numbers and it’s my choice to give her two. (She was so blunt) She turned and winked at me. That’s when I realized I was special to her. Although I grew up and started a life of my own my memories with this beautiful woman I will always charrished. I’ve kept this picture close because this is how I remember her. Always loving and caring. She would give her all to everyone. As they say at the end of the day we become memories. What a great memory she has left us with. I love you always . You will forever be a great memory to me. Thank you for showing me love. 

Our condolences to the Ayala family. So sorry for the passing of your dear mother Mary. I knew Mary since the 80s. We were both hired as the first 10 teachers at FUSD Early Ed. Dept. Mary was highly respected because she was the senior of us 10, we sought after her for advice, safety and often advocacy for families. We will miss you. Rest In Peace my friend.

Brother Sid, this is Richard from dialysis I wanted to express my feelings about dialysis and my going there which didn't make me very happy until I met you and your mom and me and Reba really thought that you guys were great it made me happy just to see you come in with your mom and I wanted to let you know you got a friend forever in me your friend Richard Harp 

I always  enjoyed seeing  Maria and Sid at Davita when I went with my boyfriend Richard to dialysis.. I so enjoyed talking  to her about being a preschool  teacher as that is what I do as  well.   You will be missed Maria.. My thoughts and prayers are with Sid and the rest of the family during this difficult  time.  I know how hard it is to lose your Mom..

My  mom has the biggest heart ever especially when it come to children. She didn’t like to watch the news but she would to see if any child was on. She would cheer when the news of a child was good  and she would get mad at the people who harmed  a child the bad news. I remember there always a non related child in our home that she cared for. I would come home and say, Mom, please tell me we’re at least related to this one. Love you mom you taught me to always put a child in need first. All my love Sidney Avalos
